I had some game developement classes and did work on developing games, and predicting when things are going to come out is a really bold move, it is also bad because very often you change your mind while making the game, or you become a deliciously exquisite pizza sauce retard when it comes to some system, or you might just be very effective when it comes to others, or maybe you did the fun/interesting/important stuff first (Eric does this as a hobby!) and the rest just feels like a chore, or maybe you realize you deliciously exquisite pizza sauce up a system you made months ago and have to rework it, also how is the 70% done measured? is it 70% of the time spent or is it 70% of the features? also isn't it PB2.5 instead of 3? as far as I know PB3 includes a campaign and such, while 2.5 is just going to be the multiplayer? someone on Discord told me this, this all also greatly depends on the time Eric puts into the game, some people get a boost when it is close to ending, others think it is annoying, it all depends.
I personally, considering he started developement in 2015, and later there was the 16% meme and such, would go with what Gashadokuro said and go with a general tendency for 2022, but maybe Eric can surprise me? he did show a picture of a multiplayer lobby, he did mention about how the level editor will involve programming, some systems seem to have been finished long ago, the skin editor and such, others I would say he did not even finish yet (he said the encoding PB2.5/3 maps will use are not XML/JSON, but instead of saying IT DOES NOT USE, he said IT WILL NOT USE, while he often says things in present when they are complete, so it makes me think that the editor-related part is still not finished really, it makes sense because he has shown little about it.
Anyways, I think this is not a bad thing, PB2 still has a LOT of possibility to be explored, and the quality of things has never been this high, and I hope it keeps increasing, Eric is amazing and it is better for him to wait and release a good product than for him to rush and release a bad product.
