Custom Animations

Postby CritiKill » 3 January 2016, 01:04

I feel like there should be some sort of system in the Map Editor that allows mapmakers to create their own 'animations' (moving limbs, nodding head, etc.) in order to create better cut-scenes and attacks.

Maybe the animations would be nameable, and a trigger would go along with it, i.e. "Set actor 'A's animation to 'B'".

You could probably get a few inaprop actions made by this but I think it would be pretty cool.

With every benefit, there comes a risk, I suppose.

Would characters be able to kill enemies, pickup weapons, etc?

Not that I'm against this idea, but I'm not sure if anyone would ever bother with custom animations. It's usually not easy and not important, and players may just ignore this feature.

I'm getting sick of you farming posts. Have you ever wrote something useful in a question topic?

It's not really necessary, I'm not sure how many people would be able to use it well or have the time to create smooth animations, and as shadowstorm said it does present a risk of inappropriate actions being animated. I'm against this idea.

NNC, please keep on-topic, if you want to talk to guest you can PM him.

As good as it may seem, theres always that one risk that outweighs the benefits. It could get exploited badly and taking care of the inappropriate animations in those maps would yake a great deal of time.

What if it was only for SP maps? and when people played the maps if Eric or someone could create an extra control where you could hit a button on the keyboard and it reports the map? would that help with balancing it out so to speak?

It's not worth implementing this idea if it's going to be for SP only, and in my opinion it's not worth implementing it in MP due to the risks. So once again I'd conclude that it shouldn't be added at all.

As for a keyboard report button, that's not necessary, all you need to do is contact a staff member to report something.

These ones are possible to do with triggers we currently have. Just to let you know.

Combed through topic,I agree with what you have down here strongly. Neat idea homefries, despite a solvable yet troublesome risk I still agree with you nonetheless and i find it useful +1 from me props for this idea

We can't really create flexible animations with this, but you've got a point.

Nice idea but I see the trolling potential there....

RandomDude45 makes a map with Proxy and Noir Lime in a small room.
With this feature, guess what will happen

Yes, this game will get a certain ESRB rating.

uhh.... animations. Erm we gonna have battle between automatic animations then.
I mean, when this feature comes out, the another event may come out such as "animation competition"
and, based on the trigger section, I just prefer the trigger rather than the FLASH amination.
