Prune (Dealing with afk players in mp match)

Postby alj99 » 28 April 2023, 09:14

AFk players has or can be a problem, lemme just get straight to the point.

Option pops up in esc menu > match settings if that is a feature for gamemaster or ppl to vote on.
But mainly, it's just on match making settings.

Can be disabled or nah.

By default in rank or approved matches, pruning is mandatory.

When it is enabled, a few option pops up.
Time -> Time for pruning to activate on an afk player (since last input)

Pruning mode settings:
- Kill and pause player: in coop, once pruning is activated, player is constantly killed at the start of each round until the player comes back (pressed any keys).
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - in dm or tdm, player is killed, and is prevented to respawn.
- Move to spectator slot: player is moved to spectator slot. Have this option if there's a separate spectator slot and players can easily switch to any slots.
- Kick player: player is kicked.

Include Game Master -> option exists if there's a game master.

Just have some sort of system that will detect user input
if the player did not input anything for an x amount of time they get kicked out of the match

They literally already said that in their post....
Well, this is more of a ''what should be done about it?'' more than ''how will it be done?'' post.

Sorry for the confusion but in this context, ''what should be done about it?'' is referring to the UI of this system that alj99 has mentioned. Where you use ESC and open a big box of match settings where you pick the amount of time being AFK before you get kicked out. Alj99 already knew the solution to the AFK problem. The real point of this thread is what we are doing to execute it right (The match settings system).

While, you just repeated almost exactly what alj99 said in the 11th line of his original post.

No need to kick actually. Eric gurt has been workong on to make spectator slot easier to use (eric gurt-spectator) which i'm pretty certain Eric will add to pb3. The prune could just work as to move afk players into spectator slots.

And have another feature that will add greatly to this is ability to easily switch between slots, and exchange slots with other players.
