My questions for pb2.5/3 and for eric gurt

Postby Nozzle » 13 May 2022, 16:36

Question 1: Will eric gurt release beta the game pb2.5/3 with halfway finished campaign?

Question 2: How long does it take to finish FULL campaign?

Question 3: Will pb2.5/3 have launcher, same as pb2?

Question 4: Will multiplayer level editing have chat? ( Could be useful at 69% though )

Question 5: Does pb2.5/3 have mod support, and easier modding?

That's all it.

I'm not Eric, but as far as I understand he is obsessed with finishing the game completely before releasing it because he fears that if it's not good enough upon release it will never get popular or something. I don't quite remember his words exactly.

If campaign is like 12 levels long then it can be finished now no problem, but if he aims for 42 levels or more levels and they are detailed and complicated, then I could suggest to make the campaign seasonal - make first part of the story now, release the game, then just add season 2, season 3 - any amount you want when you finish them. This would save a lot of time for the community who so desperately want the game to be released asap.

1. It seems like Campaign and some basic features could be enough for PB2.5/3 to be released in Beta. There also was discussion for optional missions that would be done by some of community members in-between campaign levels, but these would be optional and could be added later, perhaps.

2. I don't know. I plan to make not just levels but new entities and attract some voice-acting work.

3. Depends.

4. There is chat, but I feel like having a voice chat conversation with other people can be much more useful.

5. My current aim is to make modding doable within Level Editor. So far it should be possible to modify/alter some of campaign missions with custom changes. Later it could be interesting to make game main menu appear in specific ways depending on active modification - should not be harder than making Level Editor flexible enough.
Work it harder
Make it better
Do it faster

I think text chat is enough, if people want to use voice chat, they could use discord or teamspeak instead. I think not a lot of people doesn't feel comfortable speaking online. It's rather easy to set up a discord voice chat anyways.
But I also think that voice chat doesn't really necessitate it for the team level editor.
Idk. :popcorncat:

i dont really think that it would be a good idea to use discord as voice chat because
1 there can be sound volume problems like once you can clearly hear someone but when haos starts you just cant because voice chat is outside game
2 surely there are people who dont want to join pbc or are just banned here or not everyone wants to make a discord account just to have voice chat in one game
3 it would be really hard to get everyone from game match to discord voice chat like it would take some time to set up a voice chat room and stuff like that
My purpose makes more sense when i look at insanity around that world

So, the text chat is enough for this
