Pb2.5 Structured Gameplay Ranked and Alternative GameModes

Postby ZapruderFilm » 22 June 2017, 08:57

One reason I feel like the activity on PB2 has declined over time is the fact that PB2 has no player engaging gameplay besides 'play the maps and kill eachother.'
I looked through the first couple pages of suggestions and I did see this, but not exactly how I imagine it, so I'm doing a write-up on an idea I have in my head about it.

People have suggested alternate gamemodes, this is relevant to that, but more about how these gamemodes effect your profile and how they can make a more engaging community.

I feel like the clans system should be completed, but not only that, 'team' game modes, where clans can compete for a ranking on-site.
But I also feel if this feature is included, specific gamemodes should not effect Kill Death Ratios, but rather have a Wins / Losses ratio. This is to keep players playing the objectives rather than just going around killing everyone possible.

Not only would these additional gamemodes encourage community bonding, it would give players a new spin on gameplay and be able to have engaged combat with teammates that isn't purely about slaughtering other players, but rather reaching an objective of sorts. It would also make farming a lot less worth people's time because there are rankings besides 'people who killed the most other people'

Gamemodes I can suggest (Most already suggested but w/ever)
Capture The Flag (5-10 captures, requires like 5 people per team to begin)
King of the Hill (4-5 teams of 3 try to hold an area in a map, this area can be changed to other designated areas throughout the map before the game ends, team who holds the most players in these areas at match end wins)
CT vs T Basic (CS:GO format, where a team has a bomb carrier, and there are two plant sites where they can plant at. The other team defends these sites, and has like 40 seconds to defuse the bomb after planted before they lose. )
Escort (One team has to 'escort' a moving vehicle to the end of the map, and the vehicle will only move when their team is near it. the other team spawns at the opposite end and tries to stop them from escorting the payload within a given timeframe. No real defined parameters necessary)
Domination (Similar to CTF and King of the Hill, three designated zones can be captured by being occupied by one team. Captured zones add points over time, and teams compete to capture the majority of points in a match.)
CrateWars (Wasn't sure what to call this, but essentially, each team has a base with a crate or some sort of breakable object, and teams can acquire upgrades to guns or better weapons/health by going into a central area that connects all the bases together and capturing generated upgrades/guns/whatever. Players continue to respawn at their base until another player infiltrates it and destroys their crate. Obviously there would be a respawn limit and such, and the upgrades would have to be powerful enough to overpower any campers. There would also have to be a tiebreaker after a certain time all crates are destroyed, and at some point after that if not all players except a remaining winning team are alive, then they are teleported to the middle and some sort of lethal lightning or such keeps striking randomly until all the players die. I feel like this game mode would do particularly well with new swords included that can be upgraded along with better armor etc..)

Most of these gamemodes can be completed with complex trigger setups, but even then, they don't work player statistics and currently the only measured achievement players can gain is kills or deaths. Adding more game types and measuring success and failure in them, especially if a clan section is added where clans can compete against one another, would engage players and make them more concerned with being a part of a team.

The only other gamemode I can think of would be a limited spawn type game, where you only have so many respawns (say 20 or 40), and you must use them wisely.

If it were to support something other than just shooting each other, perhaps some type of module is located for every team that allows respawning that can be destroyed by an opposing team to prevent respawns.

Also, some type of item that gives a player/team more respawns could be an option here.

Juggernaught would be cool, but it's also do-able with normal triggers.
We could also throw gungame in there as well, where when you kill someone you recieve a better weapon, until you get to swords. First person to get to swords and kill someone wins the match.

That's like Elimination mode on Raze games.

On-Topic content:

I think that the Escort and CT vs T can be made with maps as well, you just need to waste a lot of time. In fact, I have an Escort-like plan, where some terrorists take a truck from a truck terminal, put illegal cargo on it and then the Elite soldiers must take the truck down or something like that.

If you know Raze 2, then you can have even only you in CTF, so I suggest to take down the minimum. The Domination idea seems to be directly ripped off from Raze 2, where you also have 3 zones. I suggest to put 4 or more zones.

CrateWars idea is good, but complex.

^Here's my opinion about those ideas.^

You missed one, This one would be Great in PB2.

- Infection mode : (The game starts with all players being survivors. In the upper left hand corner of the screen, there is a timer that starts with nine seconds counting down until the game begins. After the nine seconds, one player is randomly chosen to be the first infected. The remaining personnel are the non-infected players, hence the name "Survivors". These surviving players must hide from and/or kill the Infected to try and survive until time runs out; each game lasts five minutes. The Survivors spawn with a random weapon (depending on what the custom settings are) and must survive by killing the Infected and/or hiding. 50 points are given to Survivors every time a Survivor is infected. The name given with the points is "Survivor". The round ends when either the last Survivor is killed/infected, or time runs out, and the new round will start pending on a new player to be infected.)

Let me define anarchy. The word literally means “no government.” That it also means “chaos” is to me the greatest propaganda success ever, since there is no greater chaos than war, and all wars of any magnitude of which I am aware were carried out by governments. So please Join us..

interesting ideas dear zaprunderfilm. the idea for crate wars although it is good it isn't matching for plazma burst 2.5. the domination and the king of the hill are like a strategic game which will be interesting for those who like that game. about the CT vs T Basic although i have see this in some maps it will be an fun idea. for escort this reminds me the protect the president which instead we protect the vehicle from the enemy team. about capture the flag is something which many people in 2014 waited by Eric gurt to be added but for mysterious reasons he never made it (although this mode is shown before u publish a map) so by adding this it will be an fun and challenging game. unfortunately my only criticism is first of all is the win/loses ratio which can play catalytic role as many players can be mocked for their wins or loses and secondly about the clan system although it will be helpful still it can be scandalous a lot.

I like these ideas for sure.

I think what would be even more amazing is if that "Team VS Team" gamemode could be applied to most of these modes. Imagine the payload gamemode, but before each round starts you buy an assault rifle CS-RC and a jetpack and then fly above the enemy team, firing down on them.

I think some cross-compatibility between gamemodes, such as having hybrid payload and capture point maps, or holding an area long enough for something to happen; like a weapon drop.
who needs a PB2.5 release date, anyways?
