Namesless green alien gun thingy

Postby Martin The Wolf » 25 February 2016, 19:22

I've been working on this say, about 45 minutes or maybe an hour , 1 hour in total.
Made this for Upper Heaven.

Spoiler: Show More

A nameless green alien gun.
Thinking of naming it the UH-16
And yeah I know it looks a little messy and the barrel needs outlining.
I spent 45 minutes drawing it.
Spent 15 minutes for the PMG version.
I usually just throw random PMG parts around and slap 'em around until I find something worth drawing. (AND By 'slap 'em around' I mean move them around).

Projectile : Green Electric Rails.
Speed: 30/shoots per second. 2 seconds a shot.
Semi-automatic
No actual magazine, since it is powered by energy.
Reloading time: 1 hour to recharge.
Injury: Can sometimes kill instantly at close ranges, but at far ranges can cause brain damage, memory loss and comas.
Able to shoot 300 hundred projectiles before recharging is needed.

Looks nothing like the type of weapon a alien would use as it has a human receiver and stock and theres too many lines and shades of green.
Also take your time when PMGing.

I like it, but the Color Scheme is WAY too transparent.

I suggest choosing a lighter, less transparent Color.

I'm a bit curious as to how it takes 15 minutes to PMG something that looks like it takes 2 minutes for anyone else. Other than that, that's also what I do for certain drawings, though rarely: throw something together in PMG and draw that if I don't have any reference images to make something off of.

That being said, my opinion is that the upper receiver area is fairly disproportionate in size when you compare it to the lower. I'm not a fan of the entire color scheme but I do like the pistol grip though. The rest doesn't appeal to me as interesting enough.

It also doesn't look 'alien' enough. It looks fairly human still, despite the green colors. My suggestion would be to take the human aspects, e.g most of the parts, and adding a twist to them to make them appear less human. That's what I try to do, and it somewhat ends up balancing the entire alien/human aesthetics in the end.

I did multiple designs, about 10 then I chose the best one.

Um, no I am not going to waste my time for something that I am just going to delete 10 minutes later on. The PMG version is basically just planning.
