EVA

Postby shadowstorm122 » 26 January 2016, 21:06

I know its already possible in PB2 but its not like real anti gravity, so instead of what we've got now(you fly really fast... and you are going down instead of random direction) so when the player shoots a gun in zero-Gs they will slowly go the opposite of the way they fired the gun and if the player continuously roles theybwon't be able to stop unless they hit something
Eric is adding jetpacks, so will EVA be possible in PB2.5?

There's a trigger for manipulating gravity, use it to set gravity to 0. If you're having troubles finding it, it's the 6th one in ALE's trigger list.

woot? It fits your description just fine.
Then what do you consider realistic?

on the trigger the gravity makes ur body fall down really slowly
Im talking about a player staying completely still unless they use a jetpack

sorry shadow but this idea is not great because it isn't necessary in a game like this since map makers can use the level editor to create something like that

I see what you mean, I haven't tried creating perfect zero-g conditions in the ALE myself so I'm not sure if it's possible, I can only go on what others have said.

So ... You say it's possible but unrealistic, and shooting in one direction doesn't affect the player by moving them in the opposite direction, if this is the case, then yes, I'd like to see a true zero-g mode implemented as an engine mark.

Everyone else says that realistic zero-g conditions are already possible, if this is the case, then there's no reason to add anything.

One time, I had a realistic space station hop map, that had you unable to navigate space without recoil.

I had 0 gravity, but the critical part of the realism is having a pusher region damage your stability, so that you cannot stop spinning, or moving, unless you stop it.

What Dark Archon just described sounds like perfect zero-g in PB2, so it is possible, and it doesn't sound too hard either.
