Reservations.

Postby mingo1 » 28 December 2015, 12:27

*Calls friend on Skype*

Me: Hey, go to Cali and join "Game by Mingo1."
Friend: Sure.

*2 minutes later*

Friend: Bro, I can't find the match
Me: Oh, it's full, I'll make another one. Sorry

|---------------------------|

That was a lame example, but I feel as if I've made my point clear.

I'd like there to be reserved spots for friends and players when creating a match.
Additionally, setting those reserved spots to designated teams.
For example, if I create a match on EGRW1 and have 3 friends with me, 1 of which I want on my team and 2 on the opposite with 4 slots for OTHER players to join, I can set (reserve) which people I want on which team before the game even starts.

Accordingly, if my friend(s) has to do something and I want to start the match with other players in an 8 player lobby, I can reserve a spot for him which allows 6 OTHER players to join, me, and the reserved spot for my friend.

This would be a great addition to have in my honest opinion.

Thoughts? Problems?
Discuss.

I think it's a bad idea. You can always do private match.

True, but this is specifically for public matches. If I want other players in my match but reserved spots for my buddies, this is where the idea forms into affect.

Bro, you're like at the far left field right now. I can barely see you anymore with how much sense you're not making.

I don't think you understand the system I want.

If the match is just "Password: 1" then anyone can join if they have an IQ level about 10 to have the ability to read the title; so it's basically the same as creating a PUBLIC match.

Now, with public matches, if I want to create a match with 6 random players and a spot for my friend, reservations is the perfect thing. Basically, as aforementioned in my original post, if a friend has to go for a few minutes and will be back, I can start the match and fill it up with 7 people including myself with a reserved spot for him. Therefore, he can join whenever he pleases since it's reserved.

Understand?

I would tell them.

Lmfao.

EDIT: oh wait, you raise a good point! What if there was an indicator as well? Like, matches that have a reserved spot for you can be highlighted green or something.

Well, there's nothing wrong with that, right?
The player can still be in a full lobby, it doesn't matter if it's reserved or not.

And if they want to leave, so be it. THEY can in fact grab a few friends and reserve a match.
However, if you're going to just reserve an entire match... you basically can just create a private match lol.

I'm assuming staff would be able to join no matter if the match is reserved or not, so if like what ustopable said happened, a staff member could still able to join, if that made any sense.
who needs a PB2.5 release date, anyways?

I've heard about this idea a gazillion times already but it's still a good idea. I agree with this. Combined with a good invitation system it would be awesome. I'm thinking invitations can be sent via site inbox.

Exactly! That's the one. Assasinguy above did say he's seen the idea before, it's everywhere honestly.

Having it implemented into PB2.5 perhaps would be really awesome.

At the moment, I don't have trouble connecting into matches with friends, but this would make the job much easier.
