[Open Source] Resize and Rotate Mechanic

Postby Silk1 » 16 October 2020, 13:52

Map name: Resize and Rotate Mechanic
Map ID: silk2-size
Map description: This is used to make sure the real size or rotation value before putting it on a real trigger.
I used it a lot for my decors to know the exact scale.

Map Demo Link: https://www.plazmaburst2.com/?s=2&map=silk2-size
Brief Description: If you peeps have alot of problems of resizing big decors , this might be helpful! ;P

.:Step by step on how to use the mechanic:.

1. Set the decor on the #rotateandresize*1 trigger first.

2. Test the map out and use the Resize and Rotate guns to adjust the value scale and rotation of the decor.

Note: Notice the ridiculous values on the size section, just only take three values from it, like this one [0.35]

3. After finding the real value, put the scale or rotation value in the real trigger.

4. Lastly, disable the timer at #rotateandresize*1 because it will interfere with the real values if you didn't disable it.

And that's all, I hope this will help you in your map development! ;P

This is very useful. Nice one, Silk.

Suggestions:
1) Add a gun that moves the decoration to player's cursor.
2) Replace alien and c01 pistols with some less confusing custom weapons.
3) Place guns inside character and not above his head.
4) Add "attach to invisible gun" option.
5) Add some interactive features to the room (e.g. switching radio station, enabling TV, moving clock, breakable boxes, open lockers and take weapons from it).
6) Custom non-default character skin?

1. How does this one help?
2. I think players understand this so I think there's no need.
3. What do you mean by this? I don't see the character place their guns on head
4. This is only for Resize and Rotation, no need for this>
5. I think this is way too much for just a test, it could be a legit map.
6. You mean custom color / custom body characters or custom decor characters?
If you said custom decor character, i'm not making them that much due to pb2 limitations.

If you said custom decor character, i'm not making them that much due to pb2 limitations.

1. You can move it to the room so you would get a better view of the decoration when there is something in the background. Moving it wherever player wants makes the process of choosing right scale more convenient overall.
2) Not a necessary change but it would make map more neat.
3) Image. Placing guns inside character is generally better than placing them above him.
4) It would be possible to pick a more accurate size if you can see the object being held in characters hands rather than floating somewhere in the air.
5) Then why did you add that room if the first place?
6) Body parts change, color pattern. You can check my test map to see what I mean. There is a zoom switch system too where you press SHIFT and can see things zoomed in or zoomed out. You can add that to your map too. It would help picking a more accurate size for decoration.

Those changes aren't necessary. Just suggestions.

Very helpful for custom guns. Saves A LOT of time.

To pick the proper size you need to see how gun looks in player's hands. So I still suggest to add the option to attach resized decoration to an invisible gun. Besides this system can only change decoration's overall scale, but not X scale and Y scale separately which is a problem when you have to rescale decorations that don't have the suitable for PB2 proportions.

I put the decor at the right height so that it does not have to be in a gun. Of course you yourself can make the scaling change through key biding alone and have the gun held or sth like that, but it's not necessary. As for X and Y scales, I have not seen many (if any at all) custom gun decorations that need twitching in x and y specifically. Usually, only the overall scale is required.

Silk did a good job making it user friendly and covering the basic stuff we need. Apart from that the source is open, so we can copy it and make any changes we see fit. Personally I like it better this way.
