How to disable snow in your map

Postby darkstar 1 » 20 January 2018, 11:41

We all know that time of the year when snow gets enabled in maps, and possibly gives a negative effect to the look of your map.

You could just put a large wall over your map, and so try to remove the snow effect, but this doesn't remove the snow falling effect in the background.

Recently I have found out that the 'space sky' disables both the snow on the ground and the snow falling effect which, in combination with the new trigger actions, can disable snow on every sky.

What you want to do is:
- Put an engine mark in your map, that changes the sky to 'space'.

- Add a timer with 0 delay and 1 call and let it activate a trigger that changes the sky. Then you can choose the sky you want to have in your map. (Of course you don't have to do this if you just want the 'space' sky in your map.)

(Be aware that this changes the brightness of the map to the brightness of the 'space sky', which is usually darker than other backgrounds (this will require an engine mark with a higher shadowmap size or (more) lights))

This was a very short tutorial, but I thought it was interesting and worth sharing.

Isn't easier just putting big roof above the map?
I'll do it tomorrow. Maybe.

The reason I'm not using walls is explained in the second sentence.

there goes your question.
I know why space background removes the snow effect:"no snow in space"(except certain exoplanets)
