Linux version graphical errors

Whenever I try to play the game on linux (i've tried all the download methods on the website and even tried running the windows versions with wine which did not work), I get very bad graphical errors such as pink boxes following the mouse and the inability to use the right side of the screen, anyone have any ideas what the problem is?
