[Question] Do you guys save your PB2 map files elsewhere?

Postby Girl_Power » 2 July 2020, 05:20

I'm not sure if you guys make back-up copies of your maps in case the PB2 storage server crashes or whatever but I have my PB2 map files saved on my computer, Google Drive, and on a separate USB drive. I know some people call me crazy for doing this but I find it a lot safer to save your map files elsewhere and not only on the PB2 site.

I'm curious about what you guys do so feel free to comment below! :P

I only download them as PB2 map files on my computer's hard drive, but not as xml. Is there really a difference between the two?

Every now and then I make a backup on my hard drive.

Very crucial.

You never know when you will drop your laptop or get water accidentally spill water over your PC or even just one fine day where your computer suffers from some form of hardware failure.

Damage incurred can range from hours of assignment work to precious files you had like your PB2 map or some form of project you had going on.

Don't take your data for granted, back up your important files once in a way, its not that hard. You can use the existing OneDrive feature if you know what you are doing or use DropBox, or just copy the contents into a seperate thumbdrive.

Good luck.

I don't, but I really should. I have a lot of old maps, which means memories :)

I definitely should keep them on Google Drive like you said you do. That's a really safe spot that can exist on multiple devices, computers...

In my opinion you aren't crazy for this in the slightest. With PB2 mapmaking you can truly exercise your creativity, pouring hours/days into well-designed/unique maps. It makes perfect sense that you'd wanna hold onto that
