Banning players from a map?

Postby Richard Shaw » 31 March 2018, 16:38

I was wondering, could there possibly be a way to 'ban', or put players on a sort of blacklist so that whenever they join a game, or attempt to, a trigger is run that checks a list of names, and if they are on it, they are removed?
I'm not altogether familiar with all of the new functions and variables, so I don't know if something like this is even possible.
Thanks,
--Richard Shaw.

It might be possible though.

Probably a way to check someone's login name and make them lag.

Its actually possible to do so. You can even prevent players from entering a base without a certain clan tag. (However fakes can easily get past this name tag system so you have to keep normal base protection).

But you really wouldn't need this unless someone really hated a player that much who keeps trolling your same exact map.

would anyone have an open source example of how to do this? i've recently had someone being really annoying and i want to keep them off my maps without having to rely on passwords or vote kick.

Here: jeje52-blacklist. Just add their login to the list and it'll kick them whenever they try to join.

This is the most unexpected trigger I've seen, but it sure is brilliant.

Could be anything from disliking someone to preventing certain clans from 'misusing' your map as a training match I guess.

A moderator told me it's against the rules to ban players from a certain map. You yourself can get banned from the PB2 site if you add a blacklist to your maps.

It's funny when they put this much effort into gimmicks like these and not in actually designing something fun and engaging.

I don't support that idea, it might be used to blacklist every members of said enemy clan which prevents raids and claiming that " enemy clans didn't do shit we won " and that stuff.

Even if it was added, it will be abused multiple times by map owners, regardless of they're loyal to clan or not.

Everyone deserves to play any map they wish.

I've asked the other staff about this, no one claimed and agreed that they have said this is illegal.

From what I know, the use of trigger actions to kick, nuke, or prohibit players from entering a map is completely LEGAL. However, the abuse of in-game or site tools such as kicking a player using the X button in the tab without any reason and nuking the match using the -ping command is ILLEGAL.

Oh damn really? Cause Dwayne told me that making a blacklist for a map is illegal before he quit the staff team and disabled his account. I should make a blacklist too then...

referring to this quote, I guess I will made an updated version which introduces list system so people can input the names inside in order to blacklist people, but in 2 ways:

1) temporarily black-list = which used via commands, by game master. the black list will end when you open a new room:

2) permanent black-list = set up by map dev. Which you can never join the map again unless map dev unban it.

necroposting but i dont really care

"Oh damn really? Cause Dwayne told me that making a blacklist for a map is illegal before he quit the staff team and disabled his account. I should make a blacklist too then..." - quote of girl powr

this was solely based on the fact that if somebody used triggers to prevent any or all of the staff members from joining to freely do whatever they want which includes things that are against the rules, it wouldnt be tolerated, you would never know what they are up to, so why take a risk and allow them?

idk what the rest of the team thought about this when blake asked them but i explaind my concern and why i think it is not legal

I tried to think of a reason you SHOULDNT be able to ban all staff from your map and I can't think of one. Staff have work arounds, plus guests.

Someone can ban all guests along with the staff team from a certain match. But there are no rules against that so we can't really say that the map should be banned if it does not break any rules.
