Porn ads

General Discussion related to the Plazma Burst game series!

Porn ads

Postby Riften » 19 March 2018, 14:03

Despite me not playing the game, the times I do come to to see whats new, whether it be in-game or on the website, I'm sick of seeing these garbage porn ads on the site. I get the whole target market with the ads in correlation to the, most likely, demographic of this game, kids under age 15 and below. But to put it in short terms, the ads contradict the rules and shows there is no reason to have the rule(s) (about pornography/sexual slurs) in place.

If i do remember few weeks back then, there was a similiar topic about this "Porn Ads" issue that was being published by Mokaal in "Around the Campfire" (before it was being deleted...)

The solution is simple : Get an Ad-blocker (It's free...)

P.S : Also if i do remember, Eric have make an comment about this before in the previous topic that Mokaal made.

Getting an ad-blocker will result in you not seeing the ads, yes; but it still resides the point that, why have rules regarding pornography? The person, which is Eric, who made the game allows it to be on his site (frequently). And he is fine with the ads being displayed for others to see. So why ban players? Especially when, Eric profits from kids clicking on the ad. Why is it right for Eric to get money for taking advantage of Plazma Burst 2's demographic and financially gaining, while a player will get banned for doing the same exact thing?

If the old topic got "resolved" (I doubt it) or deleted, I don't see it being spam. Due to, me having different point(s), the issue hasn't been solved (just only for people with ad-blocker on), and me not seeing the original post.

Whether it being Eric or Cool buddy, my initial point stands.

Oh, you talking about a connection between the rules & the ads. With that being said, it's best to wait the answer from Eric himself.

Also, i believe the rules that you mention regarding pornography is on the official PB : CoC.

Plazma Burst Code of Conduct (Inappropriate Content - 9) :
Inappropriate Content is anything that is not suitable for every member of the Plazma Burst 2 community.

This includes:

• Racist, sexist, or discriminatory comments of any nature
• Real life nudity, pornography, or sexual content
• Simulated, drawn, or digital nudity, pornography, or sexual content
• Swearing or cursing
• Drugs references
• Hatred towards an individual or a group
• Illegal content
• Religious topics
• Gory or disgusting content

Any of the previous content is not welcome in the Plazma Burst 2 community. (Source : viewtopic.php?f=150&t=14355)

This has always been a debated issue. The ads aren't in Eric's control but any other content spread around by users of the site can be under control. That's what the rule is for. It's better to isolate the source of inappropriate content to one single place rather than allowing multiple people to spread the same exact thing

It might be contradictory to some extent but it's merely an attempt at damage control and minimizing the problem as much as possible. With Coolbuddy being the game's sponsor and all, the only way this issue can be resolved is if they change what ads they show (which won't ever happen) or if Eric finds someone else to support the game which is a risky move. Until then, it's just another "back against the wall" situation

Move your cursor over this ad and screenshot the URL it leads to (link should appear in bottom left corner of your browser) next time you see it.

I never been getting ads like this myself and thus I don't even know who needs to be blamed for it so far.

Mokaal been reporting something that he got from another user. So far it looks like false reporting since I've only seen just one user witnessing this.

I get them almost every time, unfortunately. It's usually on a cycle of a couple adds. I did a small test. It showed up with a cycle of 2 pornographic showing 4/5 times I refreshed, other being PayPal. And just for the possible theory, I haven't watched any type of pornographic or sexual content on this computer ever. Regardless of the lack on reports, It still should have been looked into. Seeing you seem more in question than defensive, I'm assuming you didn't look more into it.

The ads that pop up:

1. https://prnt.sc/iu3cuk

2. https://prnt.sc/iu3cye

URLS:

1. http://mmoframes.com/general/test/03/in ... _MS_04.gif (From what it seems, it looks like the initial ad pop-up is a more of an exaggerated click-bait "adult" ad. Which leads to the screen of two girls with weapons, keep in mind I didn't click past this, most likely having shooter-oriented games just with naked women (just a presumption).

2. (It seems the add for this one didn't pop up after the 2-3 times originally. Nor do I want to risk my computer, despite me doing the first one. About 5 months ago, I accidentally miss-clicked on an ad on the main menu leading me to the webiste, later to get adware.)

I did put "mmoframes com ad appears on website" in Google search and instantly got people reporting it as an adware infecting user PCs and not servers.

Adware you currently have seem to inject itself into browsers, sometimes through shortcut and system registry modifications.

This website is only using ads by Google & CPMStar both of which have strict moderation. Your problem has nothing to do with this or any other website.

To put it in perspective, even if you didn't watch porno or anything like that, you probably pirated a thing or two and downloaded some stuff from here and there which usually leads to your PC picking up adware.I never once had a porn ad on this website

The ad I was talking about me getting adware had nothing to do with the pornographic ads being presented. The ad I got was some rip off-esque mainstream game I just accidentally clicked. Also, I have gotten types of viruses, like most people over the years of surfing the internet, but I have never pirated then downloaded it. So if that is what you're saying, it doesn't apply to me.

If you're talking about the ad that I said I got adware 5 months ago, I didn't directly say you were the cause. It was a "Cuphead spin-off" I just happened to miss-click on the main menu. I wouldn't recommend anyone click on a single on this site, regardless.

As far as the pornographic ads, I have never seen these on other websites, ever. I doubt Google ads would allow any type of the ads like this to run though. When looking at CPMStar reviews. I did see this (http://prntscr.com/iuk73h) which could fall in lines with the ads that warranted my post.

Riften wrote:the ads contradict the rules and shows there is no reason to have the rule(s) (about pornography/sexual slurs) in place.

Even with the explanation and points made, the point ideally still stands. Whether you weren't aware, it happening to a small portion of people, not the fault of yours, or it being the network, it goes down to simple terms. The staff, along with the rules in place, are against of porn on this site... it shouldn't be on the site. And I would assume if a player truly followed the rules and standards you made, they would, if had the power to, take the network supplying the ads infringing on the terms of Plazma Burst 2 off the website.

In shorter terms, Plazma Burst 2 rules are against porn on their website. Plazma Burst 2 allows porn, through ads, on their website. Contradictory whether you knew about it or not.

I get suggestive ads all the time...

There's no explicit nudity however, so I wouldn't categorize them as "pornographic".

I get suggestive ads from Google. I would assume it is from the other network. But, I haven't put similar stuff on this computer to influence it, nor should it even be influenced with that stuff at hand.

It may not fall under the formal definition of pornography, or be explicit; but, if you were to post this ad as a screenshot to others or in an official chat of Plazma Burst 2, you would most likely be banned for posting pornographic-related content. As even Eric came to defend and respond, he wouldn't have done this unless he thought it interfered or deterred the standards of Plazma Burst 2, regarding rules.

If you were to put this in a category, I would put it as "soft porn." The screenshots doesn't really do it justice. The first screenshot is the girl in a running gif. The other is various pictures in different poses for virgin, amateur, and pornstar.

You having ads in your browser due to adware does not mean this website is able to control it in any way. CPMStar shows same ads for everyone.

Make sure you are using reliable anti-virus software as well as keeping your Windows updated (to Windows 10). Additionally you can contact PC technician for more help.

If everyone sees the same ads, then everyone would I see the ads I made the forum about? The adware was 5 months ago and was cleared the day of. I have a good anti-virus software. The adware has nothing to do with the ads I'm seeing. It was 5 months ago while the ads have been showing for a while but not 5, 4, or 3 months ago.

This particular case still looks unrelated to this website as to me.

Can be useful if you right clicked on this ad and then pressed on "Inspect element" from appeared context menu. Once your browser will show code near ad - I could see more on what original ad is being replaced, maybe even how.

Also would be useful to see what scripts are being loaded - they should be at that same appeared window, but in "Debugger" tab. List of domains and scripts should appear on left panel. They might need expanding until actual .js files are listed.

Additionally browser's shortcut properties might contain adware injection (at "Shortcut" tab).

This post was merely a post out of my philosophical thought. I'm not that deeply involved and or invested into the game. I showed you the screen and one of the links. If you still take interest, you can find out the bug or problem on your own (particularly because I lost interest). Good day !
