How do you feel about PB 2.5's progress speed?

Postby Copy_ » 28 May 2016, 12:38

I think the dev speed of 2.5 is quite slow.

Eric started developing pb 2.5 in August-September 2015, and the last time someone asked how much percentage are roughly done, he said 10-16%.

Of course, this slow speed is because he's the only developer, because of this I don't think a 2016 release is likely. Maybe 2017-2018.

How do you feel about the dev speed?
What is your estimate for pb2.5 release? (keeping in mind the current development speed).

Yeah, it takes long, but I think pb2.5 is worth it to wait so long.

And Eric is probably working at other games too.

I think it's all right.

Coding isn't as easy as people think.

You can easily fk many things up with a simple if .... else statement - and even if you don't, there may be some annoying bugs

I hope you aren't judging Eric because of his speed which is quite average.

I'm not doing that. I respect Eric quite alot. He's the sole developer, does some art too (I think) aswell as the sounds.

He's doing it all for free and part time while having a job at the same time.

But I just think, if he would try to get some free help from friends, fellow coders he met or hobby coders, then the game may not take as long as it is right now.

Despite that, he's doing a great job, I just wish he would be a bit faster.

Better to wait for a good game than to immediately have a crappy one.

I'd usually take the optimistic route and say that "I hope it'll be awesome and worth the wait," but bruh... another possible 1-2 more YEARS?!

I might not even be around man.

I'm not a fan of the slow dev. cycle.

However, nothing is confirmed, so we'll have to wait and see.

I agree, while I want him to take his time, I really wish for a Q4 2016 - Q1/early Q2 2017.

Otherwise, it could be to late for some.

For a good game, a good developer needs.

He can't do anything, just work on it, if he gives it to a company then they will f**k up and ruin the plans.
If he just does it fastly, the game will have bugs, glitches, missing features etc...
so we just have to wait

Go look at his latest tweets. He hasn't been working on PB2.5 since the 10th of May. I think the game could be done faster, its just theres other stuff in his life. I think he should take his time. Even though we've been waiting for quite long. He has been missing days and you can tell he has by how he has been inactive on Twitter. I'd probably give it till 2017, somewhere in January.

I don't care when it comes out, I just want to see the end result. But as of right now, progress is pretty slow. Probably because this is just a side project, he still has his main job and stuff to do. + only dev

I think it's at least 60-70% finished. What Eric shows isn't the full package. Only "some" spoilers. Plus, I would rather wait and have all the features and some bugs worked out before release, over a rushed game.

As said above, Eric is the only coder. It will take longer when compared to a 3-5 man team. Eric want's to have a presentable game, something that he thinks you will like and want to play.

On another note. If the game was "100% finished". That does not mean Boom, pow, open beta for everyone. It means stage 2 of the project. Website, Forums, Servers, Security, UI, ect..

I just hope it Gets released before I die.

Okay, In all seriousness, the game looks awesome, and I'm willing to wait until I am done with school/college and have to get a job, for pb2.5 to come out.

As long as he keeps us updated about stuff, there is hope.

Eric was never a person to show much while developing, yeah.

But as mingo has showed above, if he isn't planning to surprise us all, the game isn't nearly finished.

He also said he's showing everything he does on Twitter.

But maybe he's going to surprise us. Who knows. :P

Personally I think all he has left is multiplayer, bit of AI working, then the level editor, along with some extra skins, weapons, etc. I get the feeling the level editor is going to take a while, due to it being on a new engine

"i think" implies an opinion, e.g not a fact
in this case, its an estimation

mingo1 wrote:*same picture again*

this is more of a fact, e.g not an opinion
there's your information

smh hasn't even been a year (let alone past even half a year) and people are already crying about development speed yet these are the same people who wait 2-3 years for something like CoD or battlefield to come out
