Were PB2 Updates Satisfying?

Postby mingo1 » 26 November 2015, 06:13

I'd like to spark up some discussion.

Do you guys feel if PB2 updates were satisfying?

I made a skit with my buddy Spirit9871 about one of the PB2 updates, take a look:

NSFW (Quite a bit of swearing, nothing sexual or racial though)

And no, I didn't post this in the Fan Videos section since my intentions are to create a discussion from this.

Of the 5 years PB2 has been around (late 2010 to now), do you feel as if PB2 had updates that were significant and frequent enough? I suggest you visit this part of the website to take a look (Scroll down to the News category): http://www.plazmaburst2.com/?s=0&a=

Even though I've JUST created a skit off of how insignificant one of the updates were, I seriously feel that Eric made a decent effort to try and fix PROBLEMS the game had rather than ADDING more things. Yes, a few updates were horrific, but I saw "Bugs/fixes, server performance improved, pages updated, ranking system algorythm addressed" etc. And the spaces between us getting an update wasn't long either.

Spill your thoughts below, I'm quite interested!

Thanks!

Some were good (New stuff to the level editor like Breaking doors, Economy system) and some warn't. (New PP Update that makes it almost impossible to get pp now)

Some were good whereas some were bad. Mostly, the updates made Pb2 more laggier.

Anything from 1.7 was a failure.

These are the only updates that were a failure in my opinion;

-unranked/ranked
-pp system
-ping limit

absolutely not

the only one that kept me interested for a while (and 2 years later, I'm still trying to maintain/elongate that interest for as long as possible to compensate for no income of updates/"new interests") was an update during the summer of 2013

Not really. We haven't gotten a real update since september of last year. I don't even remember when the ray rifle and sniper were added in. Honestly at this point even a single new gun added to the game would be nice.
who needs a PB2.5 release date, anyways?

Well at the same time some people here have monster PC's.
But yeah the frame drops are ridiculous, I run every game better than I run PB2 on the Maxathom browser.
That is just sad.

As a returning player, I was surprised by the new weapons and general look of the game. The advanced level editor was a really great creation, because it allows anyone to make maps without too much of difficulty... although it may have contributed to the proliferation of *cough* weird *cough* maps in the servers.

Frame rate drops on the other hand is a no-no. Like what Chakra mentioned, other games (such as first person shooters) can run faster, and better than PB2. I have to constantly adjust my physics settings (almost every time I play PB2), to get the best gaming performance out of the worst possible scenarios. Also note that I changed my browser from Google Chrome to Maxthon because of the game running like a .ppt slide, but it still doesn't help much.

FPS is fine for me, don't find lag a problem either.

I completely agree with Silent Aurora, FPS and lag isn't an issue for me.

In terms of general lag, I live in California therefore my connection is best in the California server. I rarely join Euro or Wash unless it's for moderation needs.

FPS lag isn't an issue either. It USED to be, but I decided to switch browsers and try out some new ones in accordance to this: http://prntscr.com/97sp29

Used Chrome for first 3 years, worked for 2 and a half, sucked for the last few months till I switched to Opera. Opera worked incredibly smooth for about 3 months then I experienced the same stuff. Now I'm remarkably happy with Maxthon; I don't lag a single bit anymore (FPS wise) thanks to the browser.
