The skin editor.

Postby maxim12 » 30 October 2015, 16:59

Just want to ask how the skin editor is gonna work.

In the skin editor we able to draw our own body parts, or we just make a character with a mixiture body parts from other characters with just the possibility to change the part's color?

I think this might be the case but I think it should be like the Level Editor. You would start off with a default skin and from there, you would be able to add parts, colors, logos, etc. Just an idea.

If we had custom voices, I'd set this as my character's voice upon being shot.

The skin editor looks cool. Can't wait to make my own custom skin.

^ Let's not have that implanted. It has more harm than good benefits for having it in the game.

Not really, people would just upload sex noises and make sex matchs even bad as they are right now.

If people gonna upload innaproriate stuff, then eric could implent approval system.

If you want to load up custom voices to your character then you must send your uploaded voice files to approval first, and wait untill admins, mods or eric himself will approve those voice files, so then you will only able to the uploaded voices only when they get approved.

Ofcourse, while the uploaded voice are in approval pendimg verification, you can use the currect existing voices from other skins.

That's even worse IMO. Eric wouldn't possibly be able to look through the thousands of skins submitted each day for approval by himself, so he would have to hand it down to the mods. And judging by the track record of the mods, there will likely be someone that will abuse the system, and not approve certain peoples' skins. You will also have people that will whine and complain because their skin didn't get approved.

Eric could make the custom voice system super complicated, which would discourage the little hormone-fueled preteens from even investing the time in figuring out how to upload a custom voice. But this would also discourage many players with good intentions and creative thought from uploading a custom voice.

I'd prefer if there was no approval system for a custom voice thing. If you come across someone who uploaded an inappropriate voice (eg. obnoxiously loud stuff, sex noises, annoying music, etc), then you could report them. The punishment should also be very severe, possibly permanent banishment to discourage people form using inapp stuff. But this system also has drawbacks, many people might complain that they shouldn't be hearing such things in the first place and argue that an approval system is better.

There is no perfect solution to this. There will be abuse one way or another, but I think the benefits of being able to customize your character down to their voice would create some great creative opportunity for many players far outweighs the abuse that might come with such a system.

I think the customizable voice for your character is unnecessary. It will most likely prove to be a waste of time due to some of the immature players who upload sex noises, annoying phrases, etc.

You are the first to respond again in 5 years lol.

A skin editor won't be added to PB2 but to PB2.5/PB3. Although most of the features are not announced yet, Eric has confirmed that a skin editor is implemented for the third instalment. If players can upload files to the skin editor, it will first have to go through approval, just like a custom decor.
