Jet-packs in Pb2.5?

Postby Wardemption » 26 October 2015, 18:14

We already have Jet-packs invented by famous map makers in Pb2 but they are all some guns which we shoot down to fly high up but now in Pb2.5 jet-packs might be added as I saw some ideas from Gurt in Twitter. So, what do you guys think of it? State your thoughts and opinions below. :D

Self-boosting was one of the best parts on PB2... leave it to PB2.5 to ruin it.

Smh I'm not fond with the idea of jetpacks. All the value and skill in self boosting is gone since people can just fly from one end of the map to the other shooting down. Or just be flying 70% of the time.

Since self-boosting really was a physics glitch, and is a very glitchy abusive way of playing the game (regardless of it being legal or not) I'm not too bothered to see it go - if it is replaced anyway. Good map designs are ruined by boosting, as cover is just flown over. I imagine jet packs can be disabled by map creators, preventing flying over everything.

Boosting doesn't seem to be confirmed dead though - likely there will still be some form of it in PB2.5.

Jet packs are much fairer than boosting, they do not require a specific settings setup to work fully, and new players don't need to learn how to break the game to get an unfair advantage over everyone else.

Please play PB2.5 before passing judgement on it. If you don't know, don't bash.

It'll be most likely something NOT to have a joyride with. You won't be able to boost like 2 miles high :3

Well, like dewm said there will be some parts of self-boost in pb2.5 and also there may be maps where you need to self-boost except using Jet-packs. I guess in the new pb2.5 map editor we can disable or enable jet-packs. So, self-boost and jet-packs will both be there.

^ Eric will probably make it less abusive. Having an engine mark for the jet-packs would be the most sufficient way imo.

It could be cool flying a jet-pack while blowing the enemies heads out with a civil shotgun

I think it would be noice if the jetpacks were objects you could pick up instead of a state that can be altered by triggers and engine marks.

Fairly sure that's how they will work.

Eric says he's pretty much done with them other than drawing the jetpacks themselves.
